UK4Jobs (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a job board for Employers/Candidates and a trades marketplace for Homeowners/Traders (“Platform”). We are the data controller for personal data processed via the Platform.

2. What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, the lawful bases we rely on, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
3. Personal data we collect
- Account & profile – name, email, phone, company details, role, login data.
- CVs & applications – CV/resume, work history, education, skills, portfolio, messages.
- Job listings – job title, description, salary/rate, location, requirements.
- Home projects – project descriptions, property type, location, budget & timing.
- Trader profiles – trade type, services, location, public profile, reviews/ratings; may include verification documents such as insurance certificates or licences (no identity documents are required unless expressly requested).
- Payments – membership plan, billing status and identifiers from our provider (we do not store full bank card details).
- Usage & technical – device info, IP address, log data, cookies/analytics (see Cookies Policy).
- Communications – enquiries, support tickets, feedback.
4. How we collect it
- Directly from you when you register, create a profile, post content, subscribe, or contact us.
- Automatically via cookies and similar technologies on our sites.
- From third parties, e.g., payment provider (GoCardless), analytics, or anti-fraud tools.
5. How and why we use your data (lawful bases)
- Provide and operate the Platform (create accounts, post jobs/projects, enable applications and messages) – Contract.
- Payments & subscriptions (manage billing, receipts, renewals) – Contract / Legal obligation.
- Verification, safety & moderation (e.g., trader checks, remove harmful content) – Legitimate interests / Legal obligation.
- Service communications (account, security, changes) – Legitimate interests / Legal obligation.
- Marketing (news, offers) – Consent (you can withdraw at any time).
- Analytics & improvement (measure usage, fix issues) – Consent via cookies preferences.
- Legal & compliance (fraud prevention, regulatory requests) – Legal obligation / Legitimate interests.
6. Sharing your data
We share data with trusted processors who help us run the Platform, such as:
- Hosting & infrastructure (website/server providers);
- Email and support tools (transactional email, helpdesk);
- Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, subject to your consent);
- Payment processing (GoCardless – see their privacy notice and the Direct Debit Guarantee);
- Verification/anti-fraud tools where used.
We may disclose data where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal data.
7. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we use appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to EU SCCs, plus additional measures where needed.
8. Retention
- Accounts & profiles: kept while your account is active and for up to 24 months after inactivity, then deleted or anonymised.
- CVs/applications & messages: up to 24 months from last activity (unless you delete sooner).
- Job posts/home projects: visible until expiry/closure; archived for up to 24 months.
- Billing records: up to 6 years to meet tax/legal obligations.
9. Your rights
You have the right to request: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to certain processing (including direct marketing). You can withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. To exercise your rights, email contact@uk4jobs.co.uk.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to resolve your concerns first.
10. Children
Our Platform is not intended for individuals under 18. If we become aware that we hold data about a child, we will delete it.
11. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk (encryption in transit, access controls, backups). No system is completely secure, so please keep your credentials safe and contact us if you suspect unauthorised access.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, we may notify you by email or site notice.
